The Paro Tshechu is Bhutan’s most famous and vibrant religious festival, held annually in April at the courtyard of Paro Dzong. The highlight of the event is the unfurling of the giant Guru Thongdrel, a massive silk thangka believed to bless and liberate all who see it. Day 1 – Paro Arrival
Arrive at Paro International Airport. After visa formalities, meet your guide and transfer to hotel. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Evening stroll in Paro town and Kaja Throm market.
Day 2 – Paro Tshechu
Attend the Paro Tshechu festival at Paro Dzong. Witness sacred Cham dances performed by monks and laymen, enjoy the antics of Atsaras (clowns), and experience the highlight—the unfurling of the giant Guru Thongdrel thangka.
Day 3 – Paro to Thimphu
Drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. Visit the Memorial Chorten, Textile Museum, and Folk Heritage Museum. Explore Thimphu town and markets.
Day 4 – Thimphu to Punakha
Drive via Dochula Pass for panoramic Himalayan views. In Punakha, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong and Punakha suspension bridge.
Day 5 – Punakha to Paro
Visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten and Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple). Return drive to Paro with scenic stops along the way.
Day 6 – Taktsang Hike
Hike to the legendary Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, perched on a cliffside. Explore this sacred site, enjoy the views, and return to Paro for leisure.
Day 7 – Departure
Transfer to Paro International Airport for departure. Farewell and prayers for safe travels.
